Slicethepie.com is a website in which you can get paid to write reviews on songs, fashion items, accessories, etc. In this review I’ll be going over whether its worth your time, or if its just a scam that isn’t worth a second thought.

First off, What is Slice the Pie all about?

The point of offering a platform for members (you) to write reviews is to give feedback of course. The reviews you post go to the artists, fashion designers, etc. and help them out. This is all done before the songs, or products are released.

The best rated songs/products are put forward for radio play and other opportunities that enable them to get known.

Slice the Pie is definitely a rather unique site and I like this about it.

The Review Process

Since the music reviews seem to be the most popular I’ll be going over that real quick.

Right after you sign up, but before you start reviewing, you will be asked to rate a bunch of music genres on a scale of how much you like or dislike them. This is so they know what taste of music you have and they can give you more appropriate music to review. However, I have been getting a lot of music that I DEFINITELY did NOT say I liked, so I don’t know the reason for that.

When you are ready to begin reviews you will be presented with an unnamed song. And you can’t just write some basic stuff and click submit, thinking you will get paid. If you try a warning message will pop up saying “make your review more specific to this song” or something of that nature. It will also catch you if you try copying and pasting. So make sure you actually write a review about the very song you have listened to, not just something general.

There is also is a minimum number of words that you have to write. As you can see in the screenshot below. I have written some of my review, but need more words. The orange bar below where you write will fill up completely when you have written enough. I have written about 3/4 of what I need to write.slicethepiemusic

Once you do the written part of the review all you will have to do is rate the song between 1 and 10. And if you have a bunch of negative words in the written part but you rate it a 10/10, it might not let you submit it because its contradicting.

Now you are ready to submit your review. Oh ya, and you have to listen to at least 90 seconds of the song. If you try before, you won’t be able.

How much money can you make?

Well that depends on a couple different things.

Where you referred to slicethepie.com?

Another variable that comes into play is whether or not you were referred to slicethepie.com by someone else, or whether you found it on your own. If you were referred by someone else you WILL NOT make as much money per review as possible. Thats because the person that referred you will be given some of the payment per review that YOU make. They take a cut of your earnings.slicethepiereferral

So the person who refers you receives more money and you receive less money. To avoid this don’t click on any slicethepie.com links on anyones website. Just type it in your browser yourself or Google it.

Whats your rank?

On your profile you will have a rank between 1 and 5 stars. You start of at 1 star but can move up the ranks and gain stars by doing quality reviews. And as you rank higher, you will get paid more per review.

When I started out I was not referred by anyone so I was making more than a lot of people I have heard online. I was making $0.04 to $0.06 per review, most of the time $0.06. But I have heard of others making only $0.03.

They also pay more if they feel your review is high quality. I don’t know how exactly they determine this but I have noticed when I write a rather bland review, I get paid less.

If you are ranked a 5 star, which I am not yet, you will be able to earn up to around $0.15 a review. But with high quality reviews you can earn slightly more than this.

So for an hourly wage lets see what you could expect.

Lets say you are a 5 star, making 20 cents per review (This is on the high side). And you have to listen to each song for 90 seconds. So you write while the song plays and then for maybe another 30 seconds. So it takes 2 minutes per song review, which I would say is average.

If you would review a song every 2 minutes, you would be able to review 30 songs per hour. And 30 times 20 cents is $6.00. Six dollars per hour isn’t so bad, right?

But the problem is that you will not be able to constantly review new songs. You don’t go out and review any songs you want. You have to wait until Slice the Pie sends you songs to review. And don’t expect them to send you anywhere even near 30 songs per hour!

You will notice one you gain more stars in your rank that you will get more review offers. But still, don’t expect 30 per hour.

Is Slice the Pie a scam? Is it worth it?

Well its most definitely NOT a scam. Its legit and I think it is worth it for some people. I mean you are barely going to make any money off of it, but it can be enjoyable.

If you are really into music and want to help out artists then this is great for you. I myself do enjoy this part of Slice the Pie. I like to listen to music and don’t mind reviewing it, as long as its the right genre. Also, I’m sure there are lots of people that love to critique fashion. I didn’t talk about the fashion part of Slice the Pie, but its the same basic thing. You review review fashion items and get paid.

Like, I said, this is by no means a good way to make a lot of money. Its just a fun way to make a little extra pocket change.
