The internet is littered with “get rich quick” scams an all sorts of others. But in this article I’m going to go over ways to make honest money online. And I want to put emphasis on “honest”.
The two ways that I am going to go over all have 1 thing in common, they rely on you having your own website. And don’t get scared about this. Websites are simple; you don’t need any computer programming skills or anything of that matter.
You can even create your own website for absolutely free, with hosting included. I actually already wrote an article on this, so if you don’t have a website yet and are interested you can read my article on creating a free website Here.
Anyhow, lets get into the honest ways to make money online.
Number 1 – Affiliate Marketing
This is my personal favorite and is what I rely on for pretty much all of my income online.
The reason affiliate marketing is so great is because there is a TON of money to be made in the industry. There are affiliate marketing programs for pretty much every big business you can think of, Apple, Amazon, Ebay, Walmart, Target, Microsoft, and the list goes on forever.
Affiliate marketing is a business that will never go away. As long as there is commerce and business, there will be affiliate marketing.
What exactly is affiliate marketing?
This is simply when you promote products for businesses and get paid commission for each product that you help sell. In the online world its as simple as signing up for an affiliate program (which are free) and using affiliate links to direct people from your website, to the business website to make a purchase.
Now it is “that simple” to get started, but its not that simple to make good money.
In order to make good money you need to beat out the competition (many other websites), have a website that people actually want to visit, and be able to convert your website traffic into customers.
When I entered the world of affiliate marketing I knew ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I have made an enormous amount of mistakes along the way but I have grown from all of them.
How I suggest you get started

Number 2 – Adsense
Adsense is another great an legitimate way to make money online. And of course with this way you are also going to need a website.
All Adsense is is an advertising placement service that is run by Google. Companies pay Google to advertise for them and Google does exactly that.
Google Adsense is probably the easiest way to make money with your website
All you have to do is sign up and wait for Adsense to approve your site. Then you will be able to paste an html code into your website where ever you want the adds to appear.
And thats it!! Google Adsense takes care of the rest. They select ads for your site that are relevant to your content and that people are likely to click on.
How do you get paid with Adsense?
Adsense is a CPC service. This means that they will be paying you per click that you get on your website.
And the amount you will be payed varies greatly depending on the type of ad.
For example, fitness ads don’t pay very well (generally less than 20 cents), but lawyer and insurance type ads do pay well. This just has to do with how much the companies that are paying to advertise have to pay.
Don’t underestimate Adsense
I know how it sounds, less than a dollar per click!!? How am I supposed to make money?
Well let me say this, there are people that make full-time incomes off of Adsense alone. And I mean A LOT. Like over $500 a day, no joke. (unfortunately this is not me)
Just remember, the internet is the biggest marketplace on earth and if you can get the traffic to your site, you can make a killing off of Adsense.
A common mistake that I see people make is placing too many ads on their site. This is a turn off and will make people leave. Just think about how you would feel visiting your site. Are the ads too annoying? If you think they might be then you should scale it back some.
Adsense + Affiliate Marketing can be a great combination
On my sites I focus on affiliate marketing. But I do use Adsense as well.
This works nicely sometimes because people will come to my site, and although they may not be interested in purchasing the products I am promoting, they may see an ad that catches their attention and leads them to click on it.
I use Adsense as somewhat of a backup plan if you want to call it that.
