Is TopCashBack a Scam? What I Think Of It

If you are looking to earn cashback on online purchases then TopCashBack is one of your options. But should even bother with this site? Or is TopCashBack a scam that is just going to be a waste of your time?

I have been looking into cashback sites recently trying to find out what is the best one out there. TopCashBack was on my list of sites so I did a little “investigating” into this site and here is my short review. If you are wondering how it all works, how much you can get back, how you get paid, etc… then keep reading because I’ll go over it all.

  • Type: Cashback site
  • Cost: Free to join
  • Legit?: Yes

TopCashBack is a cashback website that anyone can join for free and earn money back on purchases that they make online. If you are familiar with Giving Assistant, eBates, Mr Rebate, or other cashback sites then you know how this concept works. To sum it all up…. stores pay TopCashBack to bring them traffic and they pay you some of that money back as incentive to shop at the stores in the first place.

How It All Works

So the first thing you would have to do is create an account with TopCashBack. This is free and only takes a minute. After that you are ready to start getting money back.

You can go on their website and browse all the stores that are available for cashback. When you click on a store you are interested in shopping at it will give you all the information you need to know. It will tell you the amount of cashback you will get, any restrictions that may apply, and it will also show you coupons that are available at that store on top of the cashback that you will already get.

To give you an example I clicked on Nike. As you can see they are offering 6% cashback on all US purchases (excluding Jordan purchases) and they are also offering a 20% off coupon on certain purchases of $100 or more.

If you want to shop at the store you will see a “Get Cashback Now” button that you can click on and you will be redirected to the store. After that all you will need to do is shop as normal. And if you want to use a coupon you can enter the code you get at the checkout. There is nothing more to be done to be done here.

After that you will be credited with the cashback in your account which you can then withdrawal at anytime, which I will go over more soon.

How Much Cashback Can You Earn?

The amount of cashback you can earn varies a good deal depending on the store. You can usually expect anywhere from 2-8% cashback from most stores that are available but you will see some that offer 50% plus, which is rare. All the big retailers like Walmart, AliExpress etc will give you in the 2-8% range generally.

Most places will list the cashback available as a percentage, for example: you get 7% cashback. But there are also offers where they will list a set dollar amount. This is usually for subscription purchases and things that involve contracts.

What All Is Available?

You can get cashback on all the big retail stores online like Amazon, Walmart, Nike, and the list goes on and on. However, you can also get cashback on some things that you might not necessarily think of like car rentals and airfare.

They have cashback offers from over 3,500 different merchants online so there is definitely no shortage.

Getting Paid

One of the great things about TopCashBack is that there is no minimum cash out amount. A lot of places like this will make you reach a certain balance, say $20, in your account before you are able to cash out. This place does not do that. You could have just $1 in your account and cash it out if you would want to.

They offer plenty of ways to get your money so I can’t complain about anything here. They offer regular old cash via direct deposit with ACH, PayPal transfers, or even get an American Express rewards card with money on it. This is what I would recommend because you can use this money for anything you with. However, you can also get your money in the form of gift cards for Amazon, Nike, American Eagle, GAP, Sephora, Petco, Staples.

If you go on sites like Pissed Consumer, SiteJabber, and BBB you can find a lot of reviews and complaints about companies like this to see if they are legit or not. This place has a fair number of complaints but its also notable that they have a B rating with the BBB (Better Business Bureau). This isn’t too bad but not great either.

Most of the complaints come from people claiming they did not receive the cashback that they were supposed to get. From what I have seen TopCashBack does a good job at resolving these complaints. Most of the time when people don’t receive cashback it is just an error that has to do with the cookies of the site, which is just a little snippet of tracking code that tracks your purchase and makes sure you get your cashback. This is a complaint that I have found with literally every cashback site like this and is just going to happen. Luckily TopCashBack does a good job at taking care of these errors.

Final Thoughts & What I Recommend

Overall TopCashBack is definitely no scam. It is a good cashback site and I like what I see. They offer some pretty good cashback rates, nothing spectacular usually but some decent rates. If you do a lot of shopping online then I definitely recommend this site. You can get paid for the shopping you are going to do regardless so whats not to like about it?
