The Pact App is something rather unique and claims you can earn money with it just by living a healthy lifestyle. But is it worth your time? Or is The Pact App a scam that will leave you disappointed and discouraged?
I have reviewed this app and I can assure you that it is not a scam. HOWEVER…. don’t go out there and download it just yet. Its not all that great and there are some things you should know about it before you decide whether or not its right for you.
The Pact App Review
- Name: The Pact App (aka the GymPact App)
- Website: pactapp.com
- Availability: Google Play & Apple Store
- Price: Varies (I’ll go over this)
- Recommended?: For some people
The Pact App uses a rather innovative concept to help people earn some money and live a healthy lifestyle at the same time.
It has you join a “pact” to stay healthy, and if you fall short of meeting the pact’s requirements, you must pay the price, literally, with your own money. But if you stay true to the pact you can actually make money. The people that stay in their pacts make money off of those that fail.
This app is can be free to you and you could make money with it, or it could cost you over and over again, it all depends on “the pact”.
The goal of Pact is to give you some motivation to stay healthy. Because if you stay in the pact you will make money and if you don’t you will lose money, and of course no one wants to lose money.
How It Works
There are 3 different pacts you can participate in. These include the Veggie Pact, the Gym Pact, and the Food Log Pact.
Here you make a pact to eat a certain amount of vegetables and fruits each week. You will take pictures of the foods you eat and upload them in the app to let the community verify that you are eating as you say you are.
Here you make a pact to work out. This could mean running, bike riding, working out in the gym, or just walking a certain amount of steps in a day.
Food Log Pact
Here you will make a pact to eat healthy and you will log everything. The Pact App is partnered with MyFitnessPal to make this logging of foods throughout the day possible.
Can You Cheat the Pact?
You might be wondering… how can this app know if I am actually following the pact and not just uploading pictures of food that I am not really eating… or something along those lines.
Well The Pact App is actually pretty good at making sure this doesn’t happen.
They use photos, GPS location tracking, motion trackers and other methods to verify what you do.
For example: If you are going to go running you can use the app’s built-in motion tracker that uses the phone’s accelerometer; or you can use a RunKeeper, a FitBit or something like that which can be integrated with the app.
And if you go to the gym and want to verify that, the app can use GPS tracking to verify that you were at a gym for a certain period of time.
Sure you can cheat the system, but I don’t really see the point. You won’t be making much money and this is for your own health.
What Happens If You Break The Pact?
If you don’t live up to the pact’s requirements then you pay the ultimate price. You literally pay money for breaking it.
This is supposed to keep you motivated to stay in the pact because of course you don’t want to lose money.
How You Make Money & How You Lose Money
The people that make money with The Pact App are the ones that stay in the pact and do everything they said they were going to do.
And this money that they make comes from the people that lose money from breaking the pact.
How Much Money Can You Make?
The unfortunate answer is not much at all. If you stay in your pacts, you can expect to make anywhere from $0.30 to $5.00 a week. And they even tell you this right on the website.
The reason the amount you can make varies so much is because it depends on the amount of people that fail their pacts and the amount of people that stay in their pacts, because as I said, the people that fail are giving their money to the people that don’t fail.
So if one week has a bunch of people who fail and only a few people that stay in the pact, then those people that stay in would make on the higher side.
The Pact App Complaints
With any app there are going to be technical issues, but with The Pact App there seems to be a fairly large number of complaints on this.
Complaints about photos not uploading, workouts not counting, FitBit and MapMyFitness not syncing, and other problems…. all which lead to people not getting credit for what they did.
This is by far the biggest complaint I have about the app. Luckily they do have a good support team to help you out with problems.
Credit Card Info
In order to use the app you will have to submit your credit card info as well as info for a PayPal account. This is so that you can get paid when you follow the pact and that so they can take money out of your account when you fail to do so.
I don’t see this as a big deal because this is a trustworthy app, but some people are turned off by this.
The pay you get when you stay in your pact(s) is minimal. Like I said you can only expect anywhere from 30 cents to 5 bucks a week.
Final Thoughts & What I Recommend
Well The Pact App is definitely not a scam so you have nothing to worry about there. But its not all that great either. There are a lot of tech problems that lead to it not being all that accurate and this really messes everything up. I’m not saying that you will experience problems but they are something that is rather common.
That said I still think its a great app for people looking to get healthy that need that extra push to stay on track. It will help you stay motivated and if you are someone that needs the extra push then by all means go for it and get this app.
But if you were looking into this app more as a way to make money then I wouldn’t even bother. It is just not worth your time and there are far better ways to make money.
If you are looking for a way to make money you might want to take a peek at how I make money online and see if you think you will like it.
I make a living working online for myself and I sure as heck am not working out or eating healthy to do this (although I do stay healthy). I have written a post on what I do to make money online, how it all works, and how others can do the same. You can click the link below to read about it.
