If you are looking to make money taking surveys online with Survey Junkie there are a few things you should know before you decide whether or not to sign up, and in this review I’ll be going over them. I’m going to go over how you can make money, how they pay, how much money you will ACTUALLY make, some complaints, and whether or not I recommend Survey Junkie.
If you are here wondering is Survey Junkie legit or not, I can assure you that they are not a scam. However… they aren’t that great either and I’ll be going over why.
Survey Junkie Review
- Name: Survey Junkie
- Website: surveyjunkie.com
- Cost: Free
- Recommended?: Not really, more on this later
Survey Junkie is a pretty plain paid survey site. A lot of paid survey sites also offer people other ways to make small amounts of money, such as playing games, signing up for free offers, watching videos, etc. But Survey Junkie only offers surveys, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
The reason that they offer surveys for money is because they are interested in gathering consumer opinions. Survey Junkie is a market research company that gathers information on what consumers like, dislike, etc and sell that information to big companies.
This is common and every paid survey site out there is doing the same thing.
How It Works
How it all works is rather simple and can be explained in 3 simple steps.
1) Sign Up & Fill Out Profile
Signing up is free, all you need to do is enter your email and make a password, or alternatively you can sign up through your Facebook or Google account.
After signing up you will have to fill out your profile. You will answer questions about what you like, your job, how much you make, activities, etc. This is important to fill out accurately so that Survey Junkie can match you up with appropriate surveys.
2) Take Surveys
The surveys are about as easy as it gets. They will take anywhere from 5 – 30 minutes to complete. The downside is that you won’t make much.
The topics of the surveys could be on a range of different things, you never really know.
3) Cash Out
When you take your surveys you will be paid in “points”. Once you get enough points you can then cash out for real money or gift cards.
What Are The Surveys Like?
The surveys you will be offered to participate in are your run of the mill surveys when it comes to sites like this. They are nothing special.
They range anywhere from 5 – 30 minutes but usually are in the range of 10 – 15 minutes. Each survey will have an estimated time amount displayed so you know about how long it will take before you actually take it.
Each survey you take will award you in points. They will range greatly in the amount of points you can make, anywhere from 25 points to 200. Generally the surveys that take longer will award you more points, but not necessarily.
Just to give you some examples of the amount of time it takes and the amount of points you can earn, here is a screenshot of some surveys available to me right now in my account…
And besides the surveys that Survey Junkie offers, they also list a bunch of other survey sites that you can sign up for. These include i-Say, YouGove, VIP Voice, MySurvey, Consumer Opinion Institute, Smart Panel, SwagBucks, Global Test Market, Panda Research, and Toluna.
These are all legitimate sites that they refer you to, but whats the point of signing up to them through Survey Junkie? Just go sign up on your own.
How Much Money You Will Make
Ok, so with each survey you take you earn anywhere from 25 – 200 points. And these surveys will take you 5-30 minutes to complete.
200 point surveys are extremely rare and you should not expect to get them. Generally you will earn much less than that.
Just to give you an example of how much you can realistically make, let me do the math from the surveys I showed you above. The best survey there will take 10 minutes and I can make 50 points from it.
Each point is worth 1 cent, so 100 points = $1.
So that means that I would make $0.50 in 10 minutes. That is pretty low pay and if I would put that in an hourly wage it would equal out to $3/hr.
And this is a pretty average survey. You shouldn’t really expect to earn any more than that.
You will also need to earn 1,000 points ($10) to be able to cash out and actually collect your money via Paypal or gift cards.
Survey Junkie Complaints
Survey Junkie has all the complaints that I expect to see with a survey site like this. Some of the more common complaints include…
This is expected with paid survey sites. Extremely low pay has become the norm. There used to be a time where you could make some decent money on sites like this but those times have passed.
It is cheap and easy for sites like this to get people to take surveys and to get their opinions, so there is no real need for them to pay more.
With Survey Junkie you will NOT qualify for every survey you try to take. It is common to begin to take a survey only to be kicked out because they all of a sudden determine that you don’t qualify. This is really frustrating but it is something that will happen on every survey site.
I mentioned earlier that it is important to fill out your profile accurately. The more accurately you fill out your profile, the better they can match you will appropriate surveys, and the less chance you have at being disqualified.
Final Thoughts, Why I Don’t Recommend Survey Junkie
Honestly I don’t really recommend any paid survey site. They all just pay too little and there are better ways to make money online where you can actually earn good money.
But if you really do want to earn less than minimum wage on a survey site like this, my suggestion is to use SwagBucks. They have a lot more to offer than Survey Junkie. There are a lot more ways to earn money and they make it more fun for you to do so. SwagBucks is also actually one of the other survey sites that Survey Junkie refers you to.
