Is One Opinion a Scam? What You Should Know

If you are wondering is One Opinion a scam or not then you are in the right place. While there are some things I like about this site, there are also some things that I do not like. In this review I will be going over all things, good and bad.

I’ll cut straight to the point here for those who are impatient…. NO One Opinion is not a scam. HOWEVER…. its not exactly the great opportunity that some people hype it up to be either. There are definitely some things that everyone should know about this site before they join.

OneOpinionOne Opinion Review

  • Name: OneOpinion
  • Website:
  • Cost: Free to Join
  • Recommended?: Not really, more on this later

OneOpinion is your common paid survey site in many ways. It is free to join and you can complete online surveys for rewards.

What makes this site a little more unique is that they also give you the opportunity to test new products and share your opinion on them for rewards. But overall, the surveys are the main way to make a little extra cash with this site.

How It Works

1) Sign Up

Of course the first thing you have to do is sign up. This is free to do and only takes a minute. All you need to do is enter your name, email, address, birthday, gender, and set a password for your account.

2) Take Surveys & Test Products

You can get rewarded for taking online surveys and/or testing out products.

Surveys are available in your online account and appear in a list. If you test out products they will actually mail you products to your home to test and provide your opinion on.

3) Get Rewarded

You will earn points for taking surveys and testing products. These points can then be redeemed for real cash via PayPal and others.

The 2 Ways To Make Money

Taking Surveys

OneOpinion is nothing special when it comes to taking surveys. They are your average online surveys that you would see on other similar sites. You could have surveys about health food or you could have surveys about TV shows and everything in between.

Testing Products

This is the more interesting and fun side of OneOpinion. They can mail you products to test out and to give your review on. The awesome part of it all is that these products are in the beta-testing mode and are not even available to the general public.

These products could be a bunch of different things but usually are common household products in sample size.

Another paid survey site that rewards members for testing out products is Pinecone Research.

How Much Money Can You Make?

The answer is not much. Product testing is fun but taking surveys is the main way you are going to be able to make money here, and unfortunately not much.

Surveys generally take anywhere from 5-30 minutes to complete and will pay you anywhere from 500 – 5,000 points. And 1,000 points = $1, this means you will generally earn anywhere from $0.50 – $5.00 per survey, with the longer surveys paying more than the shorter ones usually.

You also will get higher paying surveys at times, ones that pay $10+, but don’t count on these.

You should expect to make less than minimum wage with OneOpinion, although some times you might be able to bring in over 10 bucks for an hour of survey taking.

Cashing Out

The cash out threshold is set at $25. So this means that you must have at least 25,000 points, which equals $25, in order to cash out.

The nice thing is that you can cash out for straight up cash instead of having to redeem your points for gift cards. You can choose to cash out via PayPal or even get a prepaid Visa card.

One Of The Things I REALLY Like

One of the great things about One Opinion is that they offer some pretty good support.

It is common that online survey sites have terrible support. When you are having technical issues.. too bad, when you are missing a payment… oh well, when you can’t get into your account… deal with it.

Fortunately One Opinion isn’t like most online survey sites when it comes to their support. They offer what they call “member care”, in which you can call them over the phone, chat with them, or submit a support ticket.

Low Pay

As I explained, you won’t get paid much. But in OneOpinion’s defense I will say that they pay on the higher side when it comes to sites like this, although still not much.

Getting “Screened Out”

One of the problems with OneOpinion, and all paid survey sites for that matter, is that you will waste time taking surveys and then all of a sudden be kicked out because “you don’t qualify”. This happens when you answer a question a way that they don’t want and they determine that you are not the type of person that they are looking for to take the survey.

They try to qualify or disqualify you within the first 4 minutes so that you don’t waste too much time.

One of the nice things about this is that they do give you 50 points even if you are disqualified, many survey sites won’t give you anything.

Increasing Difficulty

There are a fair number of complaints online about members experiencing a sudden decrease in survey availability as they get close to reaching the cash out threshold of 25,000 points. It seems that this happens as a way to make it more difficult for people to get their money.

I cannot personally verify any of these claims, but I am simply telling you them because there are a half dozen or so that have all backed up this same claim.

Unfortunately this seems to be a common practice of many paid survey sites.

Final Thoughts & Do I Recommend OneOpinion?

Honestly I do not care much for any online paid survey site. The opportunity with these kind of sites just isn’t there and you barely make any money for the time you put in. They can be a nice way to make a few extra bucks when you are bored though, I will agree to that.

So if you are interested in earning pocket change taking paid surveys, then I do think that this site is a decent choice. Sure there are complaints that I just went over but you will have complaints with any site. Overall, this place is definitely a legit site and pays a little better than a lot of others, although still not much. You also might want to check out SwagBucks, which is a similar site that I think is pretty good.

But like I said, I don’t really recommend any paid survey site. They just don’t pay much at all and there are better ways to make money online with your spare time.

I make a living working online for myself and I sure as heck am not going around taking paid surveys. I have written a post on what I do to make money online, how it all works, and how others can do the same. You can click the link below to read about it.
