Whether you are looking to make money writing online or you are looking to hire a writer, Crowd Content is one of your options. But is this place any good and should they be trusted? Or is Crowd Content a scam that will leave writers and buyers alike discouraged and disappointed?
I’ve been getting some questions recently about the legitimacy of this site so I decided to take a look into it. This short review I put together is going to be mainly from a writers perspective but if you are looking buy content through this platform it will still be helpful.
Crowd Content Review
- Website: crowdcontent.com
- Type: Content marketplace
- Legit?: Yes
Crowd Content is a platform where people can go to buy original/unique content for various projects online such as blog posts, articles, Facebook posts, eBooks, etc. And likewise, it is also a platform where people can go to write content and make money off of it.
Basically this place just connects people looking to buy content with people looking to create content. It ensures that content creators get paid for their work and that buyers get quality content that they are looking for.
How It Works
After you sign up but before you complete any orders, you will have to create a sample piece of content. The requirements for this content will be given. Its nothing hard, just a short piece so that Crowd Content can give you a quality rating.
You can get a quality rating from 1-4 stars. This rating will determine how much you get paid (which I will go over) and the orders available to you. This initially will be determined from the sample content that you write but after that it will be determined from the feedback of the last 5 orders that you fulfilled.
Once you enter the marketplace you will then be able to see the available jobs that are listed under your quality rating. For example: if you are a 1 star writer then you will only see orders from people looking to buy 1-star content but if you are a 4 star writer you will be able to see orders for 1, 2, 3, and 4 star content.
You will see a list of all the orders and some basic information on them. If you click on any order you will then be able to see all the details about it, such as content level, knowledge requirements, instructions, pay potential, and pretty much everything you need to know to determine if you want to fulfill the order or not.
When you see an order that you think you would like to fulfill you can choose to “claim” the order.
Types of Content
You can get paid to write all sorts of content through this site. Some forms of content that you can get paid to write include…
- Blog posts
- SEO content
- Twitter posts
- Facebook posts
- Product descriptions
- And more
In addition to writing content you can also get paid to edit content that has already been written.
The amount you get paid depends on your star rating. Based on your quality rating you will get paid the following for the work you do here at Crowd Content.
- 1 Star: 1.2 – 1.4 cents per word
- 2 Star: 2.0 – 2.3 cents per word
- 3 Star: 4.4 – 5.2 cents per word
- 4 Star: 6.6 – 7.6 cents per word
So as you can see the amount that you can potentially get paid varies greatly with your quality ranking. A 4 star content writer will be getting paid over 6x the amount of a 1 star content writer.
- 1000 word article written by 1 star writer = $12 – $14
- 1000 word article written by 4 star writer = $66 – $76
And for Tweets and Facebook posts the pay differs and is on a “per unit” basis as follows…
- Standard: $0.70 – $0.80
- Professional: $1.05 – $1.20
- Standard: $1.05 – $1.20
- Professional: $1.55 – $1.75
You will be given a 3 day window to complete your order and after that you will be paid. The money will go into your Crowd Content account. Once you reach $10 in your account you are able to receive your earnings.
You will get paid on the 2nd Friday of each month and the money will go right into your PayPal account. This is the PayPal account that you will enter when you are initially signing up.
My Main Complaint
I really don’t have all that many complaints about this place. The pay is decent. The platform is easy to use. But my main complaint is about the rating system. And I have found that this is a common complaint among people that have used this platform.
The problem is that it has too much effect on your pay. You could be a 4 star writer but then all of a sudden get a lowball rating from a client and then all of a sudden you are bumped down to a 3 star. And the thing is that a client could leave you a low score because they just don’t like the article you wrote, although you followed all the instructions.
I definitely do think that the ratings should effect your pay but I don’t think they should be able to have such a drastic effect.
Final Thoughts & What I Recommend
Overall I like what I see with Crowd Content. It has some downsides and the pay is nothing phenomenal but its still a good place and in no way would I consider it a scam.
If you are looking for a writing job where you can fulfill rather simple and uncomplicated orders then this place is something to consider. Many of the orders you will come across don’t require all that much. Its not like you are going to be writing news articles for the New York Times or anything like that.
What you also might be interested in is taking a look at how I make money online. I make money by writing posts on my own websites and its something that I really like. I get to work for myself, which in my opinion is the best way to go and is the reason I don’t write for places like Crowd Content.
You can read a post I wrote here where I explain what it is exactly that I do, how it all works, and how others can get started doing the same.
