As you may or may not know, I am a money saving connoisseur. So giving the Favado Grocery App to save money a try was a no-brainer to me. I use cashback apps to save money on everyday grocery purchases (my favorite is iBotta), but I had never used an app like Favado before.
To summarize this entire review… Favado is definitely one of my more favorite apps out there. There is no doubt it can help you save money on grocery shopping and overall, I’m a fan. In this review of Favado I’ll be going over details about the app itself, some common complaints about it, and whether or not I think its worth your time to be using.
Favado Grocery Sales App Review
- Name: Favado Grocery Sales
- Type: Grocery savings app
- Price: Free
- Rating: Revealed at the end
To start off this review I want to first go over the big picture overview of what this app is all about just for those of you who are new to all of this.
The Favado app doesn’t give you cash back, it doesn’t pay you in any way like the grocery cashback apps that are out there. But what it does do is simple… it notifies you of sales, which in turn saves you money on your normal grocery shopping.
Favado tracks item prices at over 65,000 grocery and drug stores all across the US. It identifies the best deals for all your necessity items each week and helps you decide where you should be shopping on a weekly basis.
They have been around since 2013 and have managed to keep a pretty good reputation among their app users, which says a lot. Just to give you an idea of what I’m talking about here, take a look at the app rating on Google Play. It has received more than 12,000 user ratings and has a 4.3/5.
How It Works
Favado is updated on a weekly basis to notify you of sales on items in grocery and drug stores around your local area.
Select The Stores You Shop At
When you log into the app, Favado will give you a list of all the stores it tracks that are in your area. As I said earlier, it compiles sale information from over 65,000 stores across the US, so if you shop at a well known store, its probably listed.
You will need to select the stores that you shop at from the list.
View Sales At Specific Stores
Once you have selected the stores that you want Favado to track sales for, you will instantly be able to see that sales that are going on in your area. And these sales are arranged into categories such as Breakfast & Cereal; Cookies, Snacks & Candy; Produce, etc.
View Sales Only On Specific Items
In the app you will be able to click on any of your stores that you added and look at all of the sales at the particular store. There is a tab at the top where you can select whether you want to see all of the sales, just the top sales, or sales on products and brands that you have favorited.
Obviously you aren’t going to really want to go through and look at all of the hundreds of sales that are going on in your area because that is very time consuming. That is why the favorites, or “for me” option is very useful. There are thousands of products that are on sale at grocery stores that you have no interest in, but with the favorites option you can view sales on only the items that you have an interest in.
Search For Particular Items
If you want to check for sales on a particular item, you can also search for that item by typing it in the search bar inside the app. This will bring up any sale information (if any) on that item in your list of stores.
This comes in handy when you are going out to purchase an item for a special occasion, but this item isn’t worthy of being on your favorites list because you don’t normally purchase it.
As with anything in life, no matter how good or bad it is, there are going to be complaints. There is just no way around this.
And Favado is no exception to this. Although I think the app is pretty darn good an useful, some other people think otherwise.
The number one complaint that I came across with this app is that it incorrectly list sales that are outdated and not going on anymore. Complaints like this seem to be rare considering the large amount of shoppers that use this app, but nonetheless, they are there and I don’t doubt their truth.
I have not personally went to the store for a sale that Favado told me about to find that there was no sale, but I’m sure it happens. There are always going to be mistakes.
Final Rating & Is It Worth Your Time?
I rated this app an 8/10 because it is extremely easy to use, it can benefit just about everyone, it’s free, and there aren’t many complaints about it.
I would say that the Favado Grocery Sales app is definitely worth your time if you are a big grocery shopper. For those of you who don’t do much in the way of shopping it might not be worth your time. But for those parents out there that are feeding many hungry mouths, this might be worth giving a try.
Favado can help you save 50-70% on items that you might not save on otherwise because you may not know of sales going on at particular stores in your area. So if you have the time to scroll through an app and look at deals, and you are willing to go to different stores in your area, then I suggest getting Favado.
Another Suggestion: If you want to save more on your grocery shopping I suggest using a free cashback app called iBotta. With this app you can shop as you normally do, upload your receipt to the app, and get cash back on some of your purchases. This is an app that I use religiously and think everyone should be using. You can read my review on iBotta here.
